Halloween ~ 2013

My three ninjas!  We had a rare warm Halloween in Anchorage.  The boys loved it!  They stayed out much longer than they did in the last two years and got way more candy as a result!

Their pumpkins!  Ben's is the far left (from a pattern). Will's is the middle (designed and carved out all on his own).  Eli's on the far right.

Sam - 5 days

Prepare for a deluge of pictures!  This little precious bundle has stolen our hearts and I have lots of pictures to post of him over the next few days/weeks.  He is only 5 days old here.  Mommy is having fun playing with her camera and the new baby.  Daddy and I have been taking shifts at night, so the sleep deprivation has not been too bad (even though my turn to sleep is sometimes interrupted by feedings)

Parents Again

Little Sam has already arrived, but I came across this picture as I was putting blog posts together.  Not too long after this our new bundle of joy arrived!  I love this picture!  It is hard to believe the two of us are parents to four amazing little boys!

First Day of 1st Grade

Ben's first day of first grade!  His teacher this year is Ms. Kaltenborn.  She is very sweet and we think she will be a great teacher!

First Day of 4th Grade

Here is Will on his first day of school for the 2013-2014 school year.  Fourth grade!  Wish I could make him stop growing!  He is in Mr. Bailey's class which is a combined 4th/5th grade class.  He will be doing 4th grade work for math and English, but 5th grade work for science and social studies.

Salmon Run

Big thanks to our friends the Tonks' for letting us know about the salmon on base.  The fish ladder gate was closed so that the base wildlife people could count how many salmon were swimming into six-mile lake, so we got a good look at them!  So much fun to see the salmon run!

Caught one jumping!

Portage Glacier

We set off to do the boat tour of Portage Glacier under cloudy skies and threats of rain.  I almost turned around, but pressed on.  So thankful we kept going!  The sky cleared as we got closer and it ended up being beautiful!  Portage Glacier is located near the tunnel that take you to Whittier, AK.  The boat tour is only an hour long, so I thought it would be more enjoyable to the kids than some of the very long boat tours where you can see several glaciers.  The glacier was just beautiful and we got up very close to it.  They even had a chunk of the glacier ice that had been fished out of the water for us to touch!

The glacier is comprised of three smaller glaciers that merge together as they come down.  The black line in the picture is where the sides of two glaciers met,

Every time we passed this motel I said we should stop there one day and take pictures of the kids running away from the eagle like it is attacking them.  This time we finally did it!

A surprise sighting of mountain goats! I wasn't even looking for them, but one came into view down very near to the highway.  By the time we turned around to go back and take pictures, they were further up the mountain.  I did get a few good pictures though!
